UNFPA駐日事務所パートナーシップ・リエゾン・コンサルタントの高橋佳代は、3月6日 東洋英和女学院大学院「国際協力フェア」にて講義を行いました。UNFPAのグローバルな活動に加え、中外製薬株式会社やパナソニックとのパートナーシップを含むUNFPA駐日事務所の果たす役割を紹介しました。イベントには高校生から社会人を含む約80人が参加しました。
このイベントは、同大学院国際協力研究科の主催で、国際分野に関心のある中高校生や大学生、大学院生、社会人を対象に、国際協力の仕事を知る機会にしてもらおうと企画されました。UNFPAのほかに、外務省国際機関人事センターや国際協力機構（JICA）、世界銀行、国際通貨基金(IMF)、アジア開発銀行、(特活)ピースウィンズ・ジャパン、国際開発ジャーナル社からもそれぞれの活動について説明がありました。
高橋は、UNFPAの活動理念や「3つのZEROミッション」について説明。さらに、駐日事務所が担う役割として、日本政府や政策決定者との協議、資金協力の要請、民間セクターとのパートナーシップの強化、広報・啓発活動などを挙げました。
なかでも近年、重視されている民間企業とのパートナーシップについては、中外製薬株式会社とパナソニックの事例をそれぞれ説明しました。中外製薬は、2021年から財政支援を得てブータンにおける子宮頸がん撲滅に向けたUNFPAの取り組みを開始しました。2024年以降は大洋州諸国への支援にも拡大され、2026年からはインドネシアにおける助産事業への支援も展開します。また、パナソニックは、2022年より、ケニア、南スーダン及びアフガニスタンへパナソニック社製ソーラーランタンの供与を実施しました。2026年もこの現物支援は継続される予定です。
UNFPA Tokyo participated in the “International Cooperation Fair” and introduced key activities in Japan
On 6 March, Kayo Takahashi, Partnership Liaison Consultant at the UNFPA Tokyo Representation Office, delivered a lecture at the "International Cooperation Fair" hosted by Toyo Eiwa Jogakuin Graduate School.Ms. Takahashi highlighted UNFPA’s global initiatives as well as its successful examples of partnerships with the private sector such as Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Panasonic Holdings Corporation. The event attracted approximately 80 participants, ranging from high school students to working professionals.
Organized by the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, this event aimed to provide junior and senior high school students, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as working professionals interested in international affairs and development, with an opportunity to explore career paths in international cooperation. In addition to UNFPA, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s Recruitment Center for International Organisations, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Peace Winds Japan and International Development Journal Co., Ltd. also delivered presentations on their respective activities.
Ms.Takahashi explained UNFPA’s guiding principles and its “Three Zeros Mission”. She outlined the key roles of the UNFPA Tokyo Representation Office, including engagement with the Government of Japan and policymakers, resource mobilisation, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, and enhancing visibility and awareness.
Regarding partnerships with the private sector—a key priority area in recent years—she highlighted notable examples, including the partnership with Chugai Pharmaceutical since 2021, and with Panasonic since 2022. Chugai Pharmaceutical began supporting UNFPA’s efforts to eliminate cervical cancer in Bhutan in 2021 through financial assistance. Starting in 2024, this support was expanded to include countries in the Pacific region, and from 2026, it will further extend to support for midwifery programme in Indonesia. Additionally, since 2022, Panasonic has been providing solar lanterns in Kenya, South Sudan and Afghanistan, with this in-kind support expected to continue in 2026.
